Step by step

  1. Check it is not just you. Our live PSE&G page shows reports from other people in New Jersey in the last 24 hours, and the outage map shows where they are.
  2. Check PSE&G's official outage map, to see if PSE&G already knows about a problem near you and when it expects power back.
  3. Report it to PSE&G:
  4. Unplug sensitive electronics, keep the fridge and freezer closed, and run a generator outdoors only, far from doors and windows.
  5. Report it on our PSE&G page too, so people near you can see it is not just them.

Can I get a credit or reimbursement for a PSE&G power outage?

PSE&G says that under its New Jersey tariff (Section 13.1) it is not liable for damages from causes beyond its control, including weather (ice, wind, lightning), animal contacts, equipment failure, damage by others and accidents. For losses from other causes, customers can file a claim with proof of loss; PSE&G aims to decide within 45-60 business days and says filing a claim is not a guarantee of payment. Source

When will it be fixed?

Only PSE&G knows. For outages it knows about, PSE&G's outage map and app usually show an estimated restoration time, which can change as crews find the cause, and during big storms estimates can take hours to appear. Our live PSE&G page shows whether people near you are still reporting the outage.

Tell others it is not just them

A report on our page does not reach PSE&G, but it shows other people nearby what is happening. Reports are anonymous.
