About Is It Up or Down

Is It Up or Down answers one question fast: is it down for everyone, or just you?

Where the status comes from

• Official status pages. Many services publish a live status page (ChatGPT, Claude, Discord, Reddit, GitHub, PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Gmail and more). We read them every minute and show what the company itself reports, with a link to the source.
• Our own live checks. For services without a status page, and for any website you enter, our servers test whether the site answers and how fast.
• Your reports. Mobile carriers and internet providers do not publish status feeds. Reports from people having problems, by region, show outages as they happen.

We are independent and not affiliated with any of the services listed. Our checks run from our servers, so a site can be up for us and still fail for you because of your network, region or account.

Our checker identifies itself as "isitupordown.com status checker" and makes at most one light request per site per minute.
