Can I get compensation for a BT outage?
BT is signed up to Ofcom's automatic compensation scheme. BT says if your broadband or landline has a total loss of service and is not fixed within two working days after you report it, you get £10.34 for each extra day; it also pays £32.31 per missed or late-changed engineer appointment and £6.46 per day for late activation, credited automatically within 30 days. When will it be fixed?
Only BT knows. If BT lists the problem on its official outage page, that is where an estimated fix time appears. We cannot see BT's network: our live page shows whether reports from other customers are still coming in, and a drop in reports usually means service is coming back.
Tell others it is not just them
A report on our page does not reach BT, but it shows other BT customers nearby what is happening. Reports are anonymous.
