Step by step
- Check it is not just you. Our live O2 page shows reports from other O2 customers in the UK in the last 24 hours, and the outage map shows where they are.
- Check O2's official outage page and enter your postcode or sign in, to see if O2 already knows about a problem near you.
- Report it to O2:
- Phone: 202, pay Monthly, from your O2 mobile (free)
- Write down when the outage started and when service came back. You need the times if you ask O2 for compensation.
- Report it on our O2 page too, so people near you can see it is not just them.
Can I get compensation for an O2 outage?
O2's pay monthly mobile agreement says that if you have continuous or regularly recurring disruption, you may be entitled to a partial credit of your Monthly Subscription Charges for the period affected. You must report it to customer services (202 free from an O2 mobile), and O2 assesses it against your typical usage history; an alternative way to use the service must not be available. Source
After a network outage in July 2012, O2 said directly affected customers would get the equivalent of three days back as a goodwill gesture (10% off the July subscription for Pay Monthly, 10% extra on the first September top-up for Pay & Go), plus a £10 in-store voucher for all customers. Published 23 August 2012. Source
When will it be fixed?
Only O2 knows. If O2 lists the problem on its official outage page, that is where an estimated fix time appears. We cannot see O2's network: our live page shows whether reports from other customers are still coming in, and a drop in reports usually means service is coming back.
Tell others it is not just them
A report on our page does not reach O2, but it shows other O2 customers nearby what is happening. Reports are anonymous.
