What to do if RunPod is not working

  1. Check the status card at the top of this page. If RunPod reports a problem, it is on their side: wait, or launch somewhere else.
  2. If an instance will not start, try another region or another GPU type: "no capacity" errors usually mean that type is sold out, not an outage.
  3. If you cannot connect over SSH, check the instance is running, the port and IP are right, and your key is the one the instance was created with.
  4. Check your account balance or billing limit: many GPU clouds stop or refuse instances when credit runs out.
  5. Save your work to persistent storage or a volume, so a failed or preempted instance does not lose it.
  6. Look at the reports on this page: if other people report the same problem with RunPod at the same time, it is not just you.

RunPod outage questions

Is RunPod down right now?

RunPod has no status page we can read, so the card at the top of this page times RunPod's API from our servers every few minutes, and shows reports from other developers in the last 24 hours.

When was RunPod last down?

We have not recorded a RunPod outage or degraded period since we started tracking it on Oct 7, 2026. Its uptime and the full history are on the RunPod outage history page.

Why can't I start an instance on RunPod?

The most common cause is no free capacity for that GPU type in that region, which is not an outage. Try another region or GPU type, and check your account balance. If the status above shows an incident, wait for it to clear.

What can I use while RunPod is down?

Other gpu clouds include Lambda, Vast.ai, CoreWeave, Paperspace, Crusoe Cloud, Hyperstack. Each has its own status page on this site, so you can check one is working before you switch.
